India's vegetable oil imports decline 16% in August 2024

The Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA) in its latest report said that India's vegetable oil imports decreased 16.23% to 15,63,329 tonne in August 2024 from 18,66,123 tonne in the year-ago period.  In August 2024, imports of edible oil stood at 15,36,229 tonne, while imports of non- edible oil stood at 27,100 tonne. 

The overall imports of vegetable oils during the first ten months of the current oil year (November 2023 to August 2024) stood at 1,36,87,511 tonne compared to 1,41,21,076 tonne during the same period of last year; down by 3%.

Imports of palm oil (RBD Palmolein +CPO+ Crude Olein+ CPKO) for November 2023 to August 2024 declined 7.32% at 76,42,579 tonne as compared to 82,46,189 tonne during November 2022 to August 2023. Soybean oil imports decreased to 27,14,603 tonne in first ten months of the current oil year from 31,82,447 tonne during the same period of last year. Sunflower oil imports rose to 31,14,275 tonne in November 2023 to August 2024 from 25,46,190 tonne in November 2022 to August 2023.
