Sep-17-2024

The Solvent Extractors' Association of India (SEA) in its report has said that India’s oilmeals exports decreased 11% to 3,14,363 tonnes in August 2024 as compared to 3,54,206 tonnes in August 2023. The overall export of oilmeals during April to August 2024 reported at 1,868,789 tonnes compared to 1,945,553 tonnes during the same period of last year i.e. down by 4%, mainly due to reduction in export of rapeseed meal, castorseed meal.

In the first five months of the current year (April to August 2024) the export of soybean meal jumped and reported at 848,982 tonnes compared to 481,315 tonnes of the same period of last year, thanks to higher import by Iran and France. The Bangladesh and South Korea are the major importer of rapeseed meal. The current crises in Bangladesh may affect at least temporarily halting of export of rapeseed meal, mainly exported by Road or Rail Rakes.

The export of soyabean meal stood at 156,961 tonnes in August 2024. Export of rapeseed meal was at 126,610 tonnes in same month. The export of Groundnut meal and castorseed meal stood at 1,186 tonnes and 15,567 tonnes respectively in August 2024. Rice bran export stood at 14,039 tonnes in August 2024.
