Turmeric futures surge on shrinking supply

Turmeric futures surged on NCDEX as speculators build up fresh positions amid shrinking supplies in the market followed by lower arrivals. Furthermore, good buying support from the local market also kept market sentiments up. About 2800 tonnes of arrivals reported at major trading centers across India during 1st October-17th October as compared to 4200 tonnes of previous year. 

The contract for December delivery was trading at Rs 13640.00, up by 0.32% or Rs 44.00 from its previous closing of Rs 13,596.00. The open interest of the contract stood at 12,710 lots.

The contract for April delivery was trading at Rs 14166.00, up by 1.45% or Rs 202.00 from its previous closing of Rs 13,964.00. The open interest of the contract stood at 1,330 lots on NCDEX.
