Crude oil futures end lower on Tuesday
Jan-15-2025

Crude oil futures ended lower on Tuesday on account of profit booking after recent gains. Meanwhile, traders now await weekly oil reports from the American Petroleum Institute (API) and the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). However, oil prices had climbed higher in recent sessions, riding on U.S. sanctions on Russian oil producers, as well as their subsidiaries, sanctions on 183 vessels and scores of oil traders, service providers and insurance companies.

Benchmark crude oil futures for February fell $1.32 or about 1.67 percent to settle at $77.50 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for March delivery dropped $1.09 or about 1.35 percent to settle at $79.92 a barrel on London's Intercontinental Exchange.
