Copper futures settled higher on Thursday as US President Donald Trump signalled possible end to China tariff hikes. On Thursday, Trump said he was reluctant to continue ratcheting up tariffs on China as it could stall trade between the US and China. Copper prices improved further as the US dollar has come under pressure, trading below the 100 mark. Meanwhile, markets remained closed yesterday on account of Good Friday.

Copper futures for May delivery gained $0.0535 to settle at $4.7390 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. However, Copper on the London Metal Exchange was down by 0.16 percent at $9,188.50 a ton.
