Copper futures traded lower on Monday with caution after US President Donald Trump threatened to impose a 30% tariff on imports from the European Union and Mexico beginning August 1. Firm American currency also dampened copper prices. Meanwhile, investors are now awaiting the US inflation data for June due on Tuesday for more cues on the Federal Reserve's interest rate path.

Copper futures for September delivery lost $0.0270 or 0.48% at $5.5775 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange.
