Crude oil futures settle lower on Friday

Crude oil futures ended lower on Friday amid expectations of a positive outcome from the meeting between the presidents of the US and Russia. Further, traders were focused on the upcoming Fed Chair's keynote address at the Jackson Hole Symposium to get directions on rate cuts amid the recent OPEC+ decision to increase output versus EIA forecast revealing falling energy demand.

Benchmark crude oil futures for September declined $0.82 or 1.28% at $63.14 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for October delivery decreased $0.68 or 1.02% to settle at $66.16 a barrel on London's Intercontinental Exchange.
