Crude oil futures settle lower amid Trump pushing Russia-Ukraine peace deal
Aug-20-2025

Crude oil futures ended lower on Tuesday amid optimism over possible end of Russia-Ukraine conflict and Russia being allowed to trade freely as US President pushing to end the three-year-plus conflict. Besides, supply side concerns remain as OPEC+ supply is rising with the accelerated unwinding of the 2.2 million barrels per day in voluntary cuts by its member nations.

Benchmark crude oil futures for September declined $1.07 or 1.69% at $62.35 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for October delivery decreased $0.81 or 1.22% to settle at $65.79 a barrel on London's Intercontinental Exchange.
