Life insurers report 12% rise in new business premium in October 2025

Life Insurance Council in its latest data (Provisional) has showed that life insurers posted 12.05% year-on-year (Y-o-Y) rise in new business premium (NBP) in the month of October 2025 at Rs 34006.95 crore as compared to Rs 30347.60 crore in the year-ago period. Out of which, the private insurers’ premium increased by 11.47% Y-o-Y to Rs 14732.94 crore in October 2025 from Rs 13216.51 crore. On the other hand, Life Insurance Corporation of India’s premium increased 12.50% to Rs 19274.01 crore in October 2025 from Rs 17131.09 crore in October 2024. 

Of the total premium collected by life insurance companies in the month of October 2025, individual single premium stood at Rs 3961.99 crore as against Rs 3397.07 crore in 2024, i.e. up by 16.62%. Individual Non-Single premium surged 19.01% to Rs 8870.52 crore in October 2025 as compared to Rs 7453.50 crore in October 2024, Group Single Premium stood at Rs 19498.66 crore in October 2025. Group Non-Single Premium stood at Rs 610.07 crore in October 2025 and Group Yearly Renewable Premium increased to Rs 1065.71 crore in October 2025. 

Among the private insurance companies, SBI Life Insurance Company reported 20.26% Y-o-Y growth in premium to Rs 3185.01 crore in October 2025, HDFC Life Insurance Company’s premium stood at Rs 2828.81 crore in October 2025, up by 1.06% over October 2024. ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company’s premium stood at Rs 1773.16 crore in October 2025. Bajaj Life Insurance Company reported 8.24% growth in premiums to 1135.39 crore in October 2025 and Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance Company posted 19.37% Y-o-Y growth to Rs 1122.69 crore in October 2025.
