Non-life insurers report 24% rise in gross direct premium underwritten for November

The General Insurance Council in its latest data (Provisional) has showed that non-life insurers reported 23.76% rise in gross direct premium underwritten at Rs 25321.46 crore for the month of November 2025 (excluding specialised companies - Agricultural Insurance Company of India and ECGC) as compared to Rs 20460.82 crore in the November 2024. 

Of the total, general insurance companies, with market share of 83.94%, garnered gross direct premium underwritten of Rs 22418.69 crore in the month under review as compared to Rs 18322.22 crore in the corresponding month of previous year, registering a growth of 22.36%. Among all, premium of Bajaj General Insurance up by 193.06%, Navi General Insurance up by 94.04%, Raheja QBE General Insurance Co up by 72.52%, Generali Central Insurance Company up by 63.39% and Zuno General Insurance Co up by 40.92%. 

Standalone health insurers, with market share of 12.20%, garnered gross direct premium underwritten of Rs 3709.77 crore in November 2025 as compared to Rs 2725.27 crore in November 2024, i.e. up by 36.12%. Among all, Aditya Birla Health Insurance Co up by 67.91%, ManipalCigna Health Insurance Co up by 53.90%, Niva bupa health insurance company up by 47.08% and Care Health Insurance company up by 37.56%. 

Specialised insurers showed growth of 25.16% in gross direct premium underwritten at Rs 768.93 crore in November 2025 as compared to Rs 614.38 crore in the November 2024. Within the specialised insurers, premium of Agricultural Insurance Company of India up by 30.32%, while premium of ECGC was up by 1.95% in the month of November this year.
