Life insurers report 23% rise in new business premium in November 2025

Life Insurance Council in its latest data (Provisional) has showed that life insurers posted 22.97% year-on-year (Y-o-Y) rise in new business premium (NBP) in the month of November 2025 at Rs 31119.64 crore as compared to Rs 25306.56 crore in the year-ago period. Out of which, the private insurers’ premium increased by 12.50% Y-o-Y to Rs 15249.93 crore in November 2025 from Rs 13555.45 crore. On the other hand, Life Insurance Corporation of India’s premium increased 35.04% to Rs 15869.71 crore in November 2025 from Rs 11751.11 crore in November 2024. 

Of the total premium collected by life insurance companies in the month of November 2025, individual single premium stood at Rs 4605.25 crore as against Rs 3669.44 crore in 2024, i.e. up by 25.50%. Individual Non-Single premium surged 26.75% to Rs 10334.14 crore in November 2025 as compared to Rs 8153.00 crore in November 2024, Group Single Premium stood at Rs 14130.33 crore in November 2025. Group Non-Single Premium stood at Rs 637.81 crore in November 2025 and Group Yearly Renewable Premium increased to Rs 1412.11 crore in November 2025. 

Among the private insurance companies, SBI Life Insurance Company reported 34.41% Y-o-Y growth in premium to Rs 3461.19 crore in November 2025, HDFC Life Insurance Company’s premium stood at Rs 2493.56 crore in November 2025, up by 2.12% over November 2024. Axis Max Life Insurance Company’s premium stood at Rs 1122.69 crore in November 2025. Bajaj Life Insurance Company reported 64.79% growth in premiums to 1086.57 crore in November 2025 and Aditya Birla Sun Life Insurance Company posted over 2- fold jump to Rs 1070.84 crore in November 2025.
