Copper futures trade higher on supply constraints

Copper futures traded higher on MCX, due to enlargement of bets by the participants tracking supply constraints with the lingering geopolitical tension and on mine disruptions in Chile and Peru. Additionally, growing demand for red metal in electric vehicle, renewable energy projects, and AI infrastructure also buoyed the positive trend.

The contract for April delivery was trading at Rs 1199.00 up by 0.51% or Rs 6.05 from its previous closing of Rs 1192.95. The open interest of the contract stood at 9248 lots.

The contract for May delivery was trading at Rs 1213.00 up by 0.60% or Rs 7.25 from its previous closing of Rs 1205.75. The open interest of the contract stood at 2546 lots on MCX.
