NLC India signs MoU with NPCIL to establish nuclear power projects

NLC India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) on May 25, 2026 for formation of a Joint Venture (JV) to establish Nuclear Power Projects in the country.

The MoU is for the development of 700 MW Indigenous Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) based Nuclear Power Projects, or any other power reactor of suitable capacity based on latest technologies and mutually agreed terms. The collaboration also envisages investment opportunities in NPCIL' s existing and upcoming 700 MW PHWR projects through the proposed JV framework.

NLC India is a Navratna Government of India Enterprise, under the administrative control of Ministry of Coal. The company is engaged in the business of mining of Lignite, Coal and generation of power by using lignite as well as Renewable Energy Sources and consultancy.
