Coal India reports 8.4% rise in coal production during July

Coal India has reported rise of 8.4% in coal production to 50.4 million tonnes (MT) (Provisional) during July 2026 as compared to 46.4 MT (Provisional) in July 2025. It produced 220.0 MT (Provisional) of coal during April-July period of 2026, down 4.3% from 229.8 MT (Provisional) during the same period previous year.

In July 2026, coal offtake increased by 17.4% to 63.7 MT (Provisional) from 54.2 MT (Provisional) in July 2025. The total offtake of coal during the April-July period of 2026 grew to 261.9 MT (Provisional), up 6.8% from 245.2 MT (Provisional) in the corresponding period last fiscal.

Coal India is the world’s largest coal mining company. It also produces non-coking coal and coking coal of various grades for diverse applications.
