Copper futures settle down on Thursday
Aug-14-2026
Copper futures settled down on Thursday because high prices slowed buyer demand in the world’s top metal consumer China. However, some declines were limited after data showed US producer prices were unchanged in July, reinforcing Wednesday’s tame CPI report and easing recent concerns over hawkish signals from FOMC members. Continuous inventory outflows from London Metal Exchange warehouses and uncertainty over potential US tariffs on refined copper also capped the fall.

Copper futures for September delivery fell $0.0075 to settle at $6.6080 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was up by 0.12% at $14,148.50 a ton.
