Copper futures settle higher on Tuesday
Sep-09-2026
Copper futures settled higher on Tuesday due to supply challenges at key mines worldwide, a softer dollar, and potential US tariff concerns. Additionally, strong demand from electrification, renewable energy, power infrastructure and Artificial Intelligence drove long-term market growth. Meanwhile, investors focused on Friday's US inflation data, which could provide greater clarity on the interest rate outlook ahead of next week's Fed policy meeting.

Copper futures for December delivery rose $0.141 to settle at $6.8235 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was up by 1.37% at $14,708.50 a ton.
