Copper futures settle higher on Tuesday
Sep-16-2026

Copper futures settled higher on Tuesday due to persistent mine-supply constraints globally, even as rising inventories in London Metal Exchange warehouses signalled an easing of the global supply squeeze. However, some gains were limited by a strong dollar overseas ahead of the Federal Reserve’s interest rate decision later Wednesday where the Fed is expected to deliver its first rate hike in around three years.

Copper futures for December delivery rose $0.039 to settle at $6.4435 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was up by 0.59% at $14,083.50 a ton.
