Crude oil futures drop on demand woes

Crude oil futures dropped on MCX amid demand woes after industry data showed an increase in US crude oil inventories, despite supply threats from an outage on Saudi Arabia’s pipeline to the Red Sea. Meanwhile, traders are actively looking to the US Energy Information Administration weekly petroleum status report for critical directional cues.

The contract for September delivery was trading at Rs 9974.00, down by 2.30% or Rs 235.00 from its previous closing of Rs 10209.00. The open interest of the contract stood at 15868 lots.

The contract for October delivery was trading at Rs 9521.00, down by 2.24% or Rs 218.00 from its previous closing of Rs 9739.00. The open interest of the contract stood at 8927 lots on MCX.
