Copper futures settle higher on Friday
Sep-19-2026
Copper futures settled higher on Friday amid signs of increased buying activity in top consumer China, while ongoing mine supply shortages and a weaker US dollar also supported copper prices’ up-move. A weaker American currency made copper cheaper for international buyers, boosting global copper demand alongside surging AI data center and power grid needs. However, concerns about further tightening in US monetary policy capped additional gains in copper prices.

Copper futures for December delivery rose $0.03 to settle at $6.6915 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was up by 0.21% at $14,521.50 a ton.
