Crude oil futures closed higher on Thursday, as traders grew restless regarding progress in US-Iran truce talks, following conflicting remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian at the United Nations General Assembly. However, a report said that a senior Iranian official stated that Tehran is reviewing Washington’s response to its peace proposals, which prioritize lifting the U.S. naval blockade on Iranian ports and reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

Benchmark crude oil futures for November delivery increased by $2.45 or 2.66% to settle at $94.61 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for November delivery surged by $3.52 or 3.41% to settle at $106.6 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
