Gold futures finished sharply higher on Monday, as fears of aggressive interest rate hikes eased after sharp drop in crude oil prices. Additionally, safe haven buying ahead of the US midterm elections also buoyed yellow metal investments.

Gold futures for December delivery soared by $70.7 or 1.81% to settle at $3,969.60 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile. While, spot gold dipped by $21.66 or 0.55% to $3,924.67 an ounce.
