Sep-12-2024

Copper futures settled higher on Wednesday in line with expectations that the US central bank will cut interest rates next week for the first time since the pandemic’s early days. However, some gains were limited by firm dollar after the US inflation data showed a 0.2% increase in the consumer price index last month.

Copper futures for December delivery gained $0.0440 to settle at $4.1420 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was up by 0.71 percent at $9,090.50 a ton.
