India’s vegetable oils imports decline 2% in September: SEA

The Solvent Extractors’ Association (SEA) in its latest data has showed that vegetable oils (edible and non-edible) imports of India decreased by 2% to 1,491,174 tons in the month of September 2018 as compared to 1,519,277 tons in September 2017. The overall imports of vegetable oils slipped 3.5% to 13,769,847 tons during November 2017 to September 2018 (11 months) as compared to 14,272,845 tons during the same period a year ago.

Out of the total vegetable oils imports, edible oils imports was 1,422,003 tons in September 2018, as compared to 1,501,283 tons in the same month a year ago, down by 5.28%, while non-edible oils imports was 69,171 tons, as compared to 17,994 tons imported in the corresponding month of previous year.

During November 17- September 18, overall Palm Oil import has decreased to 7,947,472 tons from 8,546,059 tons, while Soft Oils import remained at same level and reported 5,394,614 tons from 5,397,244 tons during the same period of last year. Practically palm and soft oil ratio is nearly 60:40.
