Gold futures end higher on trade deal uncertainty

Gold futures ended higher on Tuesday, due to increased safe haven buying after US President Trump dashed near term hopes of a trade deal with China, and suggested that trade negotiations are once again at a serious impasse.  The President said that the deal might be happening until after the November 2020 presidential election.

Gold futures for December US gold futures settled 1% higher at $1,484.40 per ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile. spot gold gained 1.1% to $1,478.38 per ounce.
