Copper futures edge lower on Tuesday

Copper futures edge lower on Tuesday as overall industrial metals declined amid negative sentiment spilled over from the stock markets after person-to-person transmission of a new virus was confirmed in China, the world’s top metal consumer. Meanwhile, Copper futures remained closed yesterday on account of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Copper futures for March delivery fell $0.0375 to $2.8080 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange fell as much as 1.7% to a two-week low of $6,155 a ton.
