Rupee strengthens against US dollar on Friday
Oct-12-2018

Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar on Friday with easing global crude oil prices and selling of American currency by banks and exporters. Besides, higher opening in the equity market also supported the rupee. On the global front, the dollar traded at its lowest level this month against its major peers as declining US treasury yields and further losses on Wall Street soured sentiment.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 73.74, stronger by 38 paise from its previous close of 74.12 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 73.84 and 73.59 respectively. The reference rate for the dollar stood at 74.38 and for Euro stood at 85.90 on October 11, 2018. While the reference rate for the Yen stood at 66.29, the reference rate for the Great Britain Pound (GBP) stood at 98.29. The reference rates are based on 12 noon rates of a few select banks in Mumbai.
