The second annual two day Summit on Corporate Governance, Gatekeepers of Governance, is being organized in Mumbai by the former Chairman of SEBI, Mr. M. Damodaran. The Corporate Governance related provisions of the Companies Act, 2013 and Clause 49 of the Listing Agreement (soon to be replaced by Regulations) constitute the framework within which the compliance aspects of Corporate Governance should be addressed. However, recognising that compliance is merely a threshold condition of governance, persons who see value in meaningful Corporate Governance will together address the various aspects thereof in the Summit. The coming together of those that believe that governance is a necessary condition for sustained performance will act as a fillip to the attempts of regulators and lawmakers to usher in stakeholder democracy.

The Keynote Speaker for this year’s Summit is Mr. U.K. Sinha, Chairman, SEBI. As in the last year, there are top quality speakers, rich in exposure, who through panel discussions, will be setting the agenda for the next level of governance related reforms.

The Summit is organized by Excellence Enablers Private Limited (EEPL), an entity founded by Mr. M. Damodaran, former Chairman of SEBI and, before that of UTI and IDBI. EEPL is an initiative that focuses on the implementation of better Corporate Governance practices, improvement of Board performance, including audit and evaluation, training of Directors and engagement with stakeholders of governance. It is founded on the firm belief that the gap between performance and potential can, and must, be bridged. Consistent with that belief, all the offerings are tailor-made to the specific needs of the organization or the individuals concerned.
