BSP likely to contest all 70 seats in Delhi Assembly polls
Jan-01-2025

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) is likely to contest all 70 seats in the upcoming Assembly polls in Delhi and the list of candidates is expected to be finalised by January 15.

A party official said that the process of finalising the names of candidates is underway by dividing Delhi into five zones. He said that the Delhi assembly elections are both interesting and challenging. Coordinators have been appointed in every zone to monitor the candidate-selection process.

Currently, small meetings are being held at the grassroots level where key issues and agendas are discussed and based on these discussions, candidates will be selected, a party functionary said. He also revealed that the election campaign is likely to begin on January 5. Once the election dates and candidates are announced, Mayawati and her successors will actively participate in the campaign by holding rallies.

The Legislative Assembly elections of Delhi for all 70 constituencies are scheduled to be held on or before February 2025. The contest is mainly between Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), BJP and Congress. The BSP contested all the 70 seats in Delhi in the 2020 Assembly election but failed to win any, securing a vote share of 0.71 per cent.
