Delhi CM Atishi files nomination from Kalkaji Assembly seat
Jan-13-2025

In a major step toward securing her position in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, Chief Minister Atishi and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Atishi officially filed her nomination papers for the Kalkaji constituency today.

Delhi Chief Minister Atishi also held a roadshow ahead of filing her nomination. Another AAP candidate and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was also present with Atishi. Before commencing her rally, Atishi visited Gurudwara Shri Guru Gobind Sahib in Giri Nagar. Earlier in the day, she made a visit to the iconic Kalkaji Temple to offer prayers and seek blessings for her political journey.

Before filing my nomination papers, Atishi said, ‘I have worked tirelessly in my constituency for the last five years. The people of Kalkaji are my family, they see me as their daughter and their sister. I am not just a representative; I am a part of their lives.’

Taking a jibe at the BJP, Delhi CM accused the party of being anti-poor. She said the BJP is a 'jhuggi virodhi' and 'gareeb virodhi' party and added that the AAP is committed to uplifting the marginalised communities. On Sunday, CM Atishi had launched a crowdfunding initiative, seeking to raise Rs 40 lakh to fund the electoral process. Highlighting the AAP’s unique approach to elections, Atishi noted that her party has always relied on small contributions from ordinary citizens rather than corporate funding.

The Delhi assembly election is scheduled to be held on February 5, with the results to be declared on February 8. Delhi CM Atishi will be competing against BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri and Congress leader Alka Lamba for Kalkaji Assembly segment.
