Bihar elections: PM Modi slams RJD-Congress for 'Jungle Raj' in rally
Jun-20-2025

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), blaming them for pushing Bihar into an era of 'jungle raj' characterised by lawlessness, poverty, and mass migration.

Taking a dig at the Congress and the RJD while addressing a rally in Bihar's Siwan district, the PM Modi said, ‘The 'panja' (the symbol of the Congress) and 'lantern' (the symbol of the RJD) people together have hurt the pride of Bihar. They looted so much that poverty became Bihar's misfortune... But Modi is not the one who becomes quiet after doing so much work. I have to do a lot more for Bihar. Those who brought 'jungle raj' to Bihar are looking for an opportunity to repeat their old deeds somehow’.

The PM said that the people of Bihar have to be very cautious about the future of their children. He said that the Congress and the RJD used to raise slogans about removing poverty, but it was only the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) that made it possible. PM Modi also hit out at RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav over a video allegedly showing him having a portrait of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar placed close to his feet. He accused the RJD chief of disrespecting Dr Ambedkar.

Modi warned against attempts to return to Bihar’s troubled past: ‘Those who brought jungle raj to Bihar are looking for an opportunity to repeat their old deeds somehow. You must remain vigilant for the bright future of your children’. He urged voters to keep forces that could derail Bihar’s development away.

PM also Modi highlighted major achievements, including the construction of over 55,000 kilometres of rural roads, electrification of 1.5 crore households, and provision of piped drinking water to over 26 crore people. These initiatives, he said, have transformed Bihar and fostered inclusive growth across the state. PM also promised to build three crore more houses in the coming days.

Notably, the assembly elections in Bihar are scheduled to take place later this year
