Jul-04-2025
Asian markets traded mostly lower in early deals on Friday, saddled by the cautiousness ahead of the July 9 expiration of the 90-day trade truce by the US. Lingering geopolitical uncertainties, the impact of a slowing US economy and woes ahead of key Chinese economic data next week, including June CPI, PPI also pressured equity investments. KOSPI index tumbled the most among Asian indices on technical correction after South Korean equities soared with the proposed Commercial Act reforms.

Nikkei 225 down by 13.03 points or 0.03% to 39,772.87, Straits Times edge down by 9.20 points 0.23% to 4,010.37, Jakarta Composite dipped by 5.65 points or 0.08% to 6,872.40, Taiwan Weighted slipped by 122.72 points 0.54% to 22,590.25, KOSPI Index tumble by 40.05 points or 1.29% to 3,076.22, and Hang Seng fell by 175.76 points 0.73% to 23,894.18.

On the flip side, Shanghai Composite up by 11.25 points or 0.33% to 3,472.40, and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI higher 1.41 points or 0.09% to 1,550.40.
