India's merchandise exports rise 7.29% in July

The commerce ministry in its latest data has showed that India's merchandise exports rebounded by 7.29 per cent to $37.24 billion in July 2025 as compared to $34.71 billion in July 2024. Imports increased by 8.6 per cent year-on-year to $64.59 billion in July 2025 as compared to $ 59.48 billion in July 2024. Trade deficit widened to $27.35 billion in July, the highest since November last year when the trade gap was $31.77 billion. The trade deficit during the first four months of 2025-26 was $94.81 billion.

According to the data, merchandise exports during April-July 2025 were $149.20 billion as compared to $144.76 billion during April-July 2024. Merchandise imports during April-July 2025 were $244.01 billion as compared to $231.59 billion during April-July 2024. Merchandise trade deficit during April-July 2025 was $94.80 billion as compared to $86.83 billion during April-July 2024.

Non-petroleum and non-gems & jewellery exports in July 2025 were $30.51 billion as compared to $27.06 billion in July 2024. Non-petroleum and non-gems & jewellery exports in April-July 2025 were $118.40 billion, as compared to $109.22 billion in April-July 2024. Non-petroleum, non-gems & jewellery (gold, silver & precious metals) imports in July 2025 were $42.79 billion as compared to $40.04 billion in July 2024. Non-petroleum, non-gems & jewellery (gold, silver & precious metals) imports in April-July 2025 were $159.80 billion, as compared to $146.61 billion in April-July 2024.
