Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar: Rahul Gandhi alleges 'partnership' between EC and BJP to steal votes
Aug-19-2025

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi continued his attack on the Election Commission of India (ECI) accusing the poll body of having a partnership with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Addressing a rally on the third day of Congress' 'Voter Adhikar Yatra' at Bhagat Singh Chowk in Nawada, Rahul Gandhi said, ‘A partnership is ongoing between BJP and the Election Commission. They are stealing votes together. The Constitution has given the right to vote, which is being snatched by Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and the Election Commissioner.’ Gandhi asserted that the (RJD's) Tejashwi (Yadav), me and the other (Mahagathbandhan) leaders will not allow even one vote to be stolen in Bihar.

Congress leader further said that the BJP, along with the Election Commission, has stolen votes in Maharashtra, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh. He alleged that in Maharashtra, between the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, the ECI created about 1 crore new voters. He said the Congress asked the EC to provide machine-readable voters list and CCTV footage but the poll body refused.

Rahul Gandhi alleged that the consequences of vote theft would be severe, claiming that first, voter cards will be taken away, then ration cards and lands will be given to Adani and Ambani. He said this country belongs to farmers, labourers, small traders and the youth, and not to a few billionaires like Adani and Ambani. Gandhi also said all the wrong laws, GST, demonetisation are aimed at benefiting few billionaires.

Speaking at the rally, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav also alleged that the Election Commission and the BJP formed a partnership to steal votes and ‘fool the people of Bihar’. Yadav said that the poll body was acting at the behest of the BJP by deleting names of living voters and even declaring them dead.

The Voter Adhikar Yatra will conclude with a rally in Patna on September 1.
