Aug-21-2025

The Indian rupee strengthened against the US dollar on Thursday amid a positive momentum in domestic equity markets and a surge in risk appetite in the global markets, driven by optimism surrounding potential peace talks between Russia and Ukraine. Although, rise in crude oil prices, strength in US dollar and foreign fund outflows, have dented rupee sentiments and restricted further gains in rupee. Foreign Institutional Investors offloaded equities worth Rs 1,100.09 crore on Wednesday, exchange data showed. Meanwhile, investors awaited cues on the Federal Reserve's policy outlook ahead of the three-day Federal Reserve's Jackson Hole symposium.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 86.98, stronger by 9 paise from its previous close of 87.07 on Wednesday. The currency touched a high and low of 87.0400 and 86.9300 respectively.
