At rally in poll-bound Bihar, Yogi Adityanath tears into Congress-RJD over burqa row
Oct-16-2025

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has slammed the RJD-Congress combine in Bihar for opposing the Election Commission's order on the identification of women voters who turn up at polling booths in a burqa, claiming that the opposition parties are indulging in mischief by raising a controversy over the issue. The commission had said anganwadi workers would be deployed at all polling booths for verifying the identity of burqa-clad women.

Addressing a campaign rally in support of BJP candidate Ram Kripal Yadav in Bihar's Danapur, Yogi Adityanath alleged, ‘Bihar under the NDA rule is looking forward to continuing its journey towards progress. At such a time, the Congress-RJD is indulging in mischief by raising a controversy over burqas.’ He said, ‘Should fake voters be allowed to vote? The Congress and RJD want this to happen. A reason why they are making a big fuss over burqas. They have also been opposed to electronic voting machines (EVMs) because they want to restore the old system of ballot papers, which facilitated booth capture by their henchmen’. Yogi stated that the opposition parties want to allow fake voters.

Lauding the Nitish Kumar-led government in the State, he said that the NDA has worked to free Bihar from the ‘stigma.’ Adityanath said, ‘Therefore, in the last 20 years, the NDA government has worked effectively to free Bihar from that stigma. Today, the double-engine government in Bihar has come again to appeal to take it forward even more effectively.’

Highlighting a relationship between Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, UP CM made a vote appeal for the ‘double-engine government’ in the upcoming Assembly polls. He also promised action against the mafia in Bihar.

The BJP has released a list on all 101 constituencies it got in the NDA's seat-sharing arrangement. Ram Kripal Yadav was announced as the candidate in the first list, including 71 names, alongside Deputy Chief Ministers Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Sinha from Tarapur and Lakhisarai constituencies, respectively. Bihar will undergo polling on November 6 and 11 in two phases, and the results will be declared on November 14.
