Rupee weakens, hits new low against US dollar on Friday
Dec-12-2025
The Indian rupee weakened and hit fresh record lows of 90.56 against US dollar in early trade on Friday due to uncertainty over the India-US trade deal and aggressive dollar purchases from importers. Rupee fell further by persistent foreign fund outflows, despite the positive impulse from the Federal Reserve's 25-basis-point interest-rate cut and less hawkish than anticipated commentary. Foreign Institutional Investors sold equities worth Rs 2,020.94 crore on Thursday, exchange data showed.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 90.33, weaker by 1 paise from its previous close of 90.32 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 90.56 and 90.30 respectively.
