May-05-2026

The Indian Rupee tumbled to a fresh record low of 95.43 against the US dollar in early trade on Tuesday, as global uncertainty continues in the wake of renewed military exchanges near the Strait of Hormuz, threatening a fragile ceasefire between the United States and Iran. Investors are now focusing to upcoming speeches from Fed officials and a batch of key economic releases, including the closely watched monthly jobs report. The US economy is projected to have added around 60K jobs in April, a sharp slowdown from the 178K increase recorded in March. Although, Foreign Institutional Investors remained net buyers in equities worth Rs 2,835.62 crore on Monday, exchange data showed.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 95.37, weaker by 14 paise from its previous close of 95.23 on Monday. The currency touched a high and low of 95.43 and 95.28 respectively.
