May-07-2026

Indian markets traded in green in early afternoon session tracing positive cues from other Asian markets. Traders took some support as Commerce ministry’s latest data showing that India’s goods and services exports rose to an all-time high of $863.11 billion in the financial year 2025-26 (FY26), up from $825.26 billion in the previous year, registering a growth of 4.59 per cent, despite uncertainties triggered by geopolitical tensions. On the merchandise front, exports grew modestly from $437.70 billion in FY25 to $441.78 billion in FY26, a growth of 0.93 per cent. Traders overlooked the S&P Global’s ‘India Forward’ report, jointly done with Crisil, which lowered India's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth estimates for the current financial year (FY27) to 6.6 per cent from 7.1 per cent projected earlier.

On the global front, all Asian markets were trading higher as hopes of a US-Iran peace deal boosted investors sentiment.

Further, the survey showed that the 'Other Services' category of establishments has recorded the highest growth among the broad sectors covered, at 10.29%, followed by manufacturing entities with 6.48% increase and trade-related entities with 6.18% rise. Moroover, the survey pointed that the highest number of establishments (rural and urban combined) has been reported in Uttar Pradesh, followed by West Bengal and Maharashtra. It said that female workers accounted for about 29% of the total workforce in the sector, out of which nearly 22% were engaged in the manufacturing of wearing apparel. Additionally, female proprietors headed over 60% of establishments in the manufacturing sector. Overall, the percentage of female-headed establishments increased marginally from 26.17% in ASUSE 2023-24 to 26.93% in ASUSE 2025. MoSPI said that these trends indicate a notable presence and growing participation of women in the unincorporated sector, both as workers and as entrepreneurs, reflecting the increasing role of the sector in women's empowerment.
