Jul-27-2026

Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada has said that the government has disbursed Rs 35,354 crore to beneficiaries of the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes as on March 31, 2026. He noted that 892 applications have been approved across 14 sectors under the PLI schemes, leading to actual investments exceeding Rs 2.40 lakh crore. The schemes have generated production and sales worth over Rs 22.66 lakh crore, exports of more than Rs 15.2 lakh crore, and employment for over 14.15 lakh people (direct and indirect), including 8.4 lakh direct jobs.

He further said that the pharmaceuticals sector has recorded cumulative sales of over Rs 3.64 lakh crore under the scheme. It has also supported the domestic manufacturing of 1,931 pharmaceutical products, including 191 bulk drugs produced in India for the first time, strengthening the country's pharmaceutical manufacturing ecosystem.

Launched in 2020, the PLI schemes cover 14 key sectors with a total approved outlay of Rs 1.91 lakh crore. The initiative aims to boost domestic manufacturing, attract investments, promote exports, create employment, and reduce import dependence.
