Markets remain positive in late morning deals

Domestic equity indices remained positive in late morning deals, supported by buying in Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv, Mahindra & Mahindra, Ultratech Cement, and Bharat Electronics. Declining crude oil prices and positive global market cues supported domestic sentiment. Crude oil prices declined after Saudi Arabia proposed a naval coalition to protect key trade routes as ships come under attack from Iran and its allies in the Red Sea and Strait of Hormuz. Further, sentiments were supported by Indian rupee appreciating 13 paise at 95.37 per dollar.  On the BSE sectoral front, traders were seen piling up position in Auto, Capital Goods, Industrials, Power and Realty, while selling was witnessed in IT, TECK and FMCG.

On the global front, Asian markets were trading mostly higher, taking cues from strong overnight performance in US markets. Back home, in the stock specific development, Bajaj Finance surged as the company, on consolidated basis, reported 27.37% rise in its net profit at Rs 5,985.75 crore for Q1FY27 as compared to Rs 4,699.61 crore for the same quarter in the previous year.

The BSE Sensex is currently trading at 78053.36, up by 125.21 points or 0.16% after trading in a range of 77809.93 and 78069.91. There were 17 stocks advancing against 13 stocks declining on the index.

The top gaining sectoral indices on the BSE were Auto up by 2.06%, Capital Goods up by 1.90%, Industrials up by 1.41%, Power up by 0.99% and Realty up by 0.90%, while IT down by 1.46%, TECK down by 0.96% and FMCG down by 0.69% were the few losing indices on BSE.

The top gainers on the Sensex were Bajaj Finance up by 6.80%, Bajaj Finserv up by 4.63%, Mahindra & Mahindra up by 4.57%, Ultratech Cement up by 0.91% and Bharat Electronics up by 0.70%. On the flip side, TCS down by 2.51%, Infosys down by 2.11%, ITC down by 1.33%, Tech Mahindra down by 1.21% and Eternal down by 1.13% were the top losers.

Meanwhile, Deeping bilateral ties, India and Bhutan have reviewed the progress and implementation of India-supported projects across diverse sectors in Bhutan. Further, they inked pact for a concessional line of credit of Rs 4,000 crore (Nu 40 billion) to support development initiatives in Bhutan. The agreement was exchanged between the Export-Import Bank of India and Bhutan's Ministry of Finance.

Besides, two sides exchanged a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for cooperation in health education and research between the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Bhutan's Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences. As part of India's support for Bhutan's green mobility initiatives, 45 electric vehicles were handed over to the Royal Government of Bhutan.

India is Bhutan's largest development partner and has been extending financial and technical assistance for infrastructure, connectivity, education, health and capacity-building projects over the decades. The country has committed support for Bhutan's 13th Five-Year Plan as part of its longstanding development partnership with the neighbouring Himalayan kingdom.

The CNX Nifty is currently trading at 24367.75, up by 50.60 points or 0.21% after trading in a range of 24299.70 and 24381.25. There were 29 stocks advancing against 21 stocks declining on the index.

The top gainers on Nifty were Bajaj Finance up by 7.02%, Bajaj Finserv up by 4.60%, Mahindra & Mahindra up by 4.31%, JIO Financial up by 1.75% and Shriram Finance up by 1.39%. On the flip side, TCS down by 2.45%, Infosys down by 1.96%, Wipro down by 1.52%, ITC down by 1.26% and Eternal down by 1.19% were the top losers.  

Asian markets were trading mostly in the green; Nikkei 225 surged 2422.57 points or 3.77% to 64,290.00, Taiwan Weighted added 3186.45 points or 7.39% to 43,119.75, Jakarta Composite gained 29.92 points or 0.48% to 6,216.28, Shanghai Composite strengthened 32.51 points or 0.85% to 3,837.20 and KOSPI increased 989.65 points or 15.03% to 6,583.21. However, Hang Seng declined 35.88 points or 0.14% to 25,823.00 and Straits Times fell 45.6 points or 0.81% to 5,627.98.
