Rupee weakens against dollar on Thursday
Aug-06-2026

Indian rupee has weakened against the US dollar on Thursday amid foreign capital outflows from Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs). FIIs were the net sellers on Wednesday’s session, offloading securities worth Rs 943.42 crore. Besides, investors remained cautious after Reserve Bank of India in its latest ‘Industrial Outlook Survey of the Manufacturing Sector’ report has stated that manufacturing firms turned less optimistic about demand conditions during the first quarter of FY27 (Q1:2026 27), with sentiments on production, order books, capacity utilisation and exports weakening amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia. On the global front, the Australian dollar has strengthened against the US dollar on Thursday amid improving global risk appetite and upbeat domestic trade data.

Finally, the rupee ended at 95.23 (Provisional), weakened by 15 paise from its previous close of 95.08 on Wednesday. The currency touched a high and low of 95.24 and 95.12 respectively.
