Indian rupee shows mild strength against US dollar on Friday
Aug-07-2026

Indian rupee has shown mild strength against the US dollar on Friday ahead of release of US non-farm payrolls that could prove pivotal for next month's interest-rate decision by the Federal Reserve. Investors remained cautious as Brent crude oil prices traded near $82 barrel mark amid uncertainties over easing tensions in West Asia after Iran fired missile at Israel. Further, continued foreign capital outflows by foreign institutional investors (FIIs) pressured the rupee. FIIs were the net sellers on Thursday’s session, offloading securities worth Rs 17.86 crore. On the global front, the British pound has witnessed mild weakness against the US dollar on Friday amid uncertainty over a possible agreement between the United States and Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Finally, the rupee ended at 95.19 (Provisional), strengthened by 3 paise from its previous close of 95.22 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 95.28 and 95.16 respectively.
