HCC secures Rs 524.17 crore contract from NHPC
Aug-11-2026

Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) has secured a Rs 524.17 crore contract from NHPC at the Salal Power Station in Jammu & Kashmir. The project involves civil and hydro-mechanical works, along with associated ancillary and enabling works, required to make the undersluices of the concrete dam at the Salal Power Station fully functional and operational. The contract has a duration of 27 months. The Salal Power Station is one of NHPC's key hydroelectric assets. The rehabilitation of its undersluices is expected to enhance the dam's operational efficiency, improve sediment management and further strengthen its long-term safety and reliability.

The contract builds on HCC's four-decade legacy of delivering landmark engineering projects across Jammu & Kashmir, including the construction of the 690 MW Salal Hydroelectric Project, commissioned in 1987. In addition, the company has constructed four projects, Uri-II (240 MW), Kishanganga (333 MW), Nimoo Bazgo (45 MW) and Chutak (44 MW)-representing a combined installed capacity of 1,352 MW, or approximately 38% of J&K's total installed hydropower capacity.

Hindustan Construction Company is a leader in engineering and construction space. The company has established a vast presence and gained recognition in the sectors of Hydro Power, Water Solutions, Transportation and Nuclear Power.
