Indian rupee weakens against US dollar on Monday
Sep-07-2026

Indian rupee has weakened against US dollar on Monday as surge in global crude oil prices sparked caution among investors. The Brent crude oil prices surged past $96 a barrel mark amid escalating tension in West Asia after United States launched strikes against three Iranian tankers, in retaliation to Iran's ballistic missiles attack on United States’ warships. Besides, fund outflows from foreign institutional investors (FIIs) weighed on rupee. FIIs were the net sellers on Friday’s session, offloading securities worth Rs 3,111.94 crore. On the global front, euro has strengthened against US dollar on Monday ahead of European Central Bank’s policy meeting later this week.

Finally, the rupee ended at 94.54 (Provisional), weakened by 11 paise from its previous close of 94.43 on Friday. The currency touched a high and low of 94.54 and 94.38 respectively.
