Rupee weakens against US dollar on Tuesday amid rising crude prices
Sep-08-2026

Indian rupee has weakened against US dollar on Tuesday as persistent rise in global crude weighed on market risk sentiment. The Brent crude oil prices have surged past $98 a barrel mark amid lingering tensions in West Asia after Iran threatened to retaliate against any new US attacks on its assets and Saudi-led coalition forces vowed a resolute response to a wave of attacks from Houthi rebels. Besides, rising expectations of interest rate hike by US Federal Reserve has kept investors on edge. Further, traders awaited the release of crucial US inflation data for more clues on interest rate trajectory. On the global front, euro has weakened against US dollar on Tuesday as rising crude oil prices raised inflationary concerns.

Finally, the rupee ended at 94.74 (Provisional), weakened by 18 paise from its previous close of 94.56 on Monday. The currency touched a high and low of 94.89 and 94.49 respectively.
