Indices remain flat in late morning deals
Sep-10-2026

Domestic equity indices remained flat in late morning deals amid weak cues from global markets. Rising Treasury yields in global markets and higher crude oil prices weighed on domestic sentiment. Crude oil prices rose on worries over escalating tensions in the Middle East and their impact on energy supplies kept Brent crude above $100 a barrel. Further, depreciation in Indian rupee against dollar also weighed down sentiments. Rupee weakened by 13 paise to 95.21 against the dollar.

Both the Sensex and Nifty were trading slightly in the red amid selling pressure in Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services and Mahindra & Mahindra. On the BSE sectoral front, traders were seen building positions in Oil & Gas, PSU, Bankex and Energy stocks, while selling pressure was witnessed in Telecom, Capital Goods, Metal, Realty and Basic Materials stocks.

On the global front, Asian markets were trading in red following the negative cues from US markets overnight. Traders were cautious after Iran has signaled readiness for a more intense conflict, while US President Donald Trump ruled out a quick end to the war, saying it was unlikely to conclude before the November midterm elections. This has raised concerns over disruptions to energy flows through the Strait of Hormuz.

BSE Sensex is currently trading at 74761.67, down by 2.56 points after trading in a range of 74666.10 and 74910.96. There were 13 stocks advancing against 17 stocks declining on the index.

Existing bilateral mechanisms have also emphasised the need to facilitate trade, resolve market-access issues and strengthen linkages with regional and global supply chains.
