Rupee weakens against US dollar on Tuesday
Sep-15-2026

Indian rupee has weakened against US dollar on Tuesday amid continuous rise in crude oil prices due to tensions in West Asia. The Brent crude oil prices surged past the $105 a barrel mark after Iran-aligned Houthis launched a new wave of attacks on Saudi Arabia. Further, persistent capital outflows from foreign institutional investors (FIIs) have weighed on investor sentiment. FIIs were the net sellers on Friday’s session, offloading securities worth Rs 930.90 crore. Besides, market participants remained cautious as retail inflation, measured by the All India Consumer Price Index (CPI) with the base year 2024, rose to 4.82% (Provisional) in August 2026 from 4.45% (Final) in July 2026, largely driven by higher food prices. On the global front, South Korean won has weakened against US dollar on Tuesday amid rising expectation of interest rate hike by US Federal Reserve.

Finally, the rupee ended at 95.88 (Provisional), weakened by 34 paise from its previous close of 95.54 on Friday. The currency touched a high and low of 95.96 and 95.75 respectively.
