Key gauges remain in green in morning deals
Sep-23-2026

Indian equity benchmarks continued to trade in green in morning deals, amid easing crude oil prices on reports of improving Middle East supply prospects. Traders took support with the HSBC Flash India Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) data showing India’s private sector activity strengthened in September, led by a sharper improvement in manufacturing. The HSBC Flash India Composite Output Index rose to 56.5 in September from a final reading of 54.3 in August, signalling the strongest expansion in private sector activity since June. Some support also came as Fitch Ratings raised India's GDP growth forecast for the current fiscal year to 6.9 per cent, from 6.4 per cent, citing strong economic growth in the June quarter and overall economic resilience. However, foreign investor selling remained a key headwind for domestic equities. On the global front, Asian markets are trading mostly in green following the mixed cues from Wall Street overnight, amid optimism about a diplomatic resolution to the US-Iran conflict after US and Iranian officials held a three-hour meeting on the sidelines of the UN gathering.
