Indian rupee weakens against US dollar on Monday
Sep-28-2026

Indian rupee has weakened against US dollar on Monday as surge in crude price and bond yields sparked caution among market participants. The Brent crude oil prices have surged past $107 a barrel mark after US President Donald Trump rejected Iran's proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. He has further threatened to attack Iran after US mid-term elections. Besides, persistent capital outflows from foreign institutional investors (FIIs) have weighed on the domestic currency.  FIIs were the net sellers in Friday’s session, offloading securities worth Rs 3,693.93 crore. On the global front, euro has weakened against the US dollar on Monday amid growing expectations of further Federal Reserve rate hikes this year.

Finally, the rupee ended at 95.97 (Provisional), weakened by 22 paise from its previous close of 95.75 on Friday. The currency touched a high and low of 96.05 and 95.87 respectively.
