Sep-29-2026

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said that India's merchandise exports increased by 15 per cent up to September 21 in the current financial year (FY27) despite global economic uncertainties stemming from the ongoing US-Iran conflict.

The minister also said the United Arab Emirates (UAE), India's seventh-largest source of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), has expressed an intent to invest an additional $25 billion in India in the near future, with the ultimate objective of taking its total investments in India to $100 billion over the coming years.

During April-August 2026-27, merchandise exports jumped 17.85 per cent year-on-year to $215.91 billion as compared to $183.21 billion in the corresponding period of FY26. Meanwhile, merchandise imports increased 18.21 per cent to $363 billion during April-August FY27, up from $307.09 billion in the same period of the previous fiscal year.
